If you needed some anecdotal evidence that the Giants’ current farm system is driven primarily by a depth of strong pitching prospects, you could do worse than a quick perusal of last night’s box scores. Solid pitching efforts from start to finish — combined with juuuust enough hitting — nearly led to the rare system sweep.
That’s been the story through the first month of the season so far, where the arms have been ahead of the bats. Will it continue this way? That’s why they play the games, init?
HITTER of the NIGHT: Jonah Cox (SJ), 1 for 2, HR (1), 2 R, 1 RBI, 2 BB
PITCHER of the NIGHT: Joe Whitman (SJ), 4.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K
