A staple of baseball conversations is to wonder what happened to all the offense in April, only to see the bats come alive with the sun in May in June. It happens every year. It happens in the majors, and it especially happens in minor leagues in the northern portions of the country: the NWL, the Midwest, the Eastern League.
We’re seeing that happen with the Giants. The bats were ice cold on their last eastern trip, which was also perpetually accompanied by cold, drizzly weather. And we’re seeing it happen with the Richmond and Eugene clubs (though there, warming weather doesn’t seem to be the accompanying factor just yet). It’s hot in Pennsylvania. It’s hot in Texas and Maryland. And the bats blossom in the sun. It happens every year. Some year we’ll remember that.
