The Giants have focused on bulking up this group, and more work may need to be done

So far in this year’s Depth Charts series, we’ve looked at:
With the winter meetings behind, us I think we can actually get a little bit of a groove going with the Depth Charts series — before the holiday break intercedes (need time for puzzling and egg nogging!).
I always struggle with how to order this series, more or less just randomizing things as I go. But I’m enjoying taking my cues from current events this time around. And, as I suggested on Friday, it seems like the addition of Giant Susac #2 to the organization (two more and they’ll catch up with the Alou Family!), it’s a good time to head to the squaaaaat and see what’s cooking.
It wasn’t so long ago that this position looked to be shaping up into a real organizational strength. Is that still the case? Things certainly start out well, if somewhat controversially, at the top, but where do they proceed from there? That’s exactly what this series intends to answer, as we take a look at virtually every player in the org from top to bottom, or, perhaps in this case, from standing to crouching.
Before diving headlong into the depths of the system, however, let’s take a moment to truly appreciate the crème de la crème at the top layer, in multi-Gold Glove winner Patrick Bailey, who is probably the greatest defensive player in the game today. I know there’s a vocal contingent of Giants’ fans — including some of you reading this sentence — who are eager for the Giants to move on from Bailey. Folks, you’re wrong. Just feast your eyes on all 10 minutes of this defensive brilliance. I have to say, I always thought that Buster Posey was the best catcher I ever saw at making fielding plays out in front of home plate. But after watching this video, I’m reconsidering that position!
