So far in the Top 50 Series, we’ve seen:
Ok. We’ve gotten through the hardest parts. We made the tough binary decisions of who is on the list and off it (I naturally have my regrets), and we’ve taken a look at a few personal cheeseballs with various warts. Now it’s time to start getting into the meat of this list proper-like. By the end of today’s post, we’ll be verging on our top 40! We’re still in the “boy do these guys have some flaws” tier — we’ve yet to climb fully out of the 35/40 grade players, which means we’re still dealing with guys who have a strong likelihood of never seeing a day in the majors. And, to be perfectly honest, we’re going to be in that tier for much longer than I’m normally comfortable with this year. That is the nature of a shallowish farm system that the large wave of MLB graduations in 2024 (and some rough injury/regressions years in the minors) has left us with.
Still, today we’re going to run across a couple of powerful bats, and plenty of up-the-middle defenders. There’s always something interesting to peruse down here! That’s why my list goes to 50, after all!
