So far in There R Giants’ 2025 Top 50:
The journey begins in earnest! After all the rosterbation and Depth Charts, it’s time for me to lay my cards on the table and tell you who I think the best 50 prospects in the Giants’ system are at this point in time. And, after a bunch of wiggling around in those final two spots, I have a group that I’m pretty happy with. It’s not, in my opinion, the best or deepest Top 50 that we’ve seen in my five years of doing this — indeed, it may be the opposite of that. But, in some large part, that’s due to the extremely large wave of prospect graduations we saw in 2024. If this list still included Hayden Birdsong, Marco Luciano, Landen Roupp, Grant McCray, or Luis Matos, it would look a lot different overall.
Of course, the good thing about graduating those guys off the list — other than the fact that it means they’ve all had well-deserved big league experience — is that it clears up room for me to talk about younger talents that maybe you don’t know as much about.
Today’s group is mostly young, and includes multiple first timers on the Top 50. It also comes with its very own theme: nearly every player in today’s group of five was signed through the Giants’ International Scouting department. That’s a theme that will continue throughout this year’s list. By my count, 20 players on this year’s top 50 have come to the Giants through the IFA signing process — which is at least five more than any previous year in There R Giants’ Top 50s.
I don’t think that’s a coincidence, either. I think Joe Salermo and his team really are doing a terrific job at bringing talent into the org — through both big dollar signings and low — and the impact of that is really starting to be felt at higher levels. So, let’s kick off what looks to be the most international Top 50 ever!
