Baseball never really ends, it just changes its skin, leaving us with stunning metamorphoses like looming, lumbering, Dodgers’ power threat Albert Pujols changed into Dominican speedster Albert Pujols!
Which brings me to our topic today. Several fans have asked me to help clarify the confusions of winter league baseball — who is playing where and how you can find out about it? And, as we’ve reached the end of our looks back at the season that was, this seems the perfect time to satisfy that request.
MLB used to keep a wonderful website that covered all winter league activity, including an amazing feature that allowed fans to see stats on a single page from all of the players in their favorite organization who were playing winter ball, no matter what league they were playing in. No more searching around from league to league! It was a tremendous resource! Alas, MLB stopped updating the page last year, and for those who had hoped it was just a one year blip…
…well, that’s disturbing for any number of reasons. I guess we’ll just have to do this the hard way! Let’s take a whirlwind tour around the world of winter league baseball — from a Giants’ prospect-centric perspective, of course! I’ll get you set up with all the latest information I can find, and load you up with links, social media accounts, You Tube channels and more. Hopefully this will be your one stop shop to follow winter league baseball.
