It would be too cruel to deprive us for long of arguably the top two full-season hitters in the system over the same month. That fear has crept in the last few days as Bo Davidson went MIA at the same time the Bryce Eldridge news broke.
Happily, we didn’t have long to fear an extended absence. After three missed games, Bo was back in the Emeralds’ lineup and swinging it last night — as were many of his teammates. Calloo, callay, O frabjous day!
Let’s get into the action and set you up for the weekend — the last before we get to the 4th of July holiday! Goodness, where is this year going?
HITTER of the NIGHT: Drew Ellis (Sac), 2 for 5, 2 HR, 2 R, 4 RBI
PITCHER of the NIGHT: Kai-Wei Teng (Sac), 4.0 IP, 0 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 8 K
Well, I’m breaking two of my own personal rules at the top here today. Normally, I do try to avoid these type of veteran roster fillers in my highlight section, and I also like to avoid highlighting the same team with both hitter and pitcher honors. And I could have gone elsewhere with the hitter for sure, but when you have a double-dong night and the second one is a walk off? Well, that does feel like something that needs to be saluted. So, here’s to you Mr. Ellis! Way to greet your old teammates with something special!
