You can start to see the plan coming into focus now, can’t you? A pitching staff anchored by Logan Webb, who is putting together a creditable Cy Young campaign, along with former CYA winner Robbie Ray, and youngsters Landen Roupp and Hayden Birdsong stepping up to be strong contributors. A best-in-baseball bullpen anchored by possibly the major’s most dominant reliever: Randy Rodriguez. With Rafael Devers’ middle-of-the-order bat added to a lineup that should soon see the return of Matt Chapman, Willy Adames starting to resemble the back of his baseball card, and a blooming-before-our-eyes Casey Schmitt starting to assert himself. There’s a core of talent there that Giants fans can start to believe in.
At some point in the not-too-distant future, one more great big Size 15 shoe is going to drop, and just maybe catalyze the entire roster into something special. That shoe, capably footed by Bryce Eldridge, gave us much to chew over and dream on this weekend, before gingerly walking off the field, leaving everybody to wonder how quickly we’ll be able to chew and dream some more.
HITTER of the WEEKEND: Ramon Peralta (ACL) 7 for 10, HR, 2b, 3b, 3 R, 6 RBI, SB
PITCHER of the WEEKEND: Greg Farone (SJ), 5.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 11 K, 1 HR
We better get to hustling….there’s a lot of ground to cover on a Big Monday edition of Minor Lines!
