The news today? Rayner Arias can hit! But that’s not all he can do. Rayner is more than just a pretty bat, you know!
We’ve been talking about the hitters being a bit behind and working on their timing — yesterday seemed to be the day that things starting locking in for some guys. Not that it was an explosion, but there was offense, there were hits. Guys were starting to get their legs underneath them.
We’ll mostly focus on the bats today and find some O in a lot of different places. One thing I might need to explore in more depth this season is Eldridge’s new nickname. As far as I can tell, the encouragement coming from the home dugout when Eldridge is at the plate is some combination of “Wayn-o” and “Bruce.” Clearly a Batman reference, but why? Is it because Bryce carries a big stick (bat/Bat)? Does Eldridge look like somebody’s internal concept of Bruce Wayne? Is it a Bryce/Bruce mash up? Inquiring minds want to know!
