First Half Organizational All Stars

With Defense, too!

I am a believer in observing the verities. Christmas, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Flag Day. I’m an equal-opportunity celebrator, because it’s important to pause in the hectic flow of life and take some stock of the big picture. So, although a metaphorical half season (the actual halfway point came and went a couple weeks ago) isn’t particularly meaningful in the grand scheme of things — some achievements will prove ephemeral, while others might signal longer term gains — I still like to put a bow on them to celebrate the players who put together a strong stretch of success. There’s so much failure in this game that success always deserves a party!

So let’s take a look back at the first half of 2024 and award a few stars — All-Stars, in fact — for the successes that were. Hopefully, all of these guys keep the momentum going. At least one of them has already gained a higher level of All-Star fame than There R Giants can hand out, but we’ll get to that in a bit.

I’ll also be handing out first half Gold Gloves — which is admittedly a little trickier, because we don’t have the same level of stats to guide us. But I feel like I have a decent handle on things around the system. Plus, it’s important to celebrate achievers on both sides of the game.

We’ll also wrap up Day 3 of the draft in today’s post, and keep tabs on action in the complexes. Good lord, this isn’t Tuesday, but it feels like another post-pourri!
