It feels like this move has been coming for awhile now, but yesterday it finally became official…
No big surprise, it was clear that the Giants didn’t feel comfortable using Beede this year in any game that wasn’t already out of hand, and the Giants are a team that needs to extract maximum value from each roster spot. Still, this is a sad moment when the org is forced to cut ties with the 2014 1st round pick, a talent that they had high hopes for many times — including as recently as two years ago. Beede has always been tremendously talented, but for one reason or another, it hasn’t quite come together yet for him. At some point, I hope it does, and I hope he finds success on a big league field for somebody at some point. As of now, it doesn’t seem like it’s going to be with the Giants.
And, since we’re on transactions, perhaps a little housekeeping is appropriate. You may remember a few days ago, when the Giants acquired Cody Abbott (or maybe not, given the dizzying rate of acquisitions over the past couple of weeks). Well, about that….
So ends the Forever Giants career of Abbott, who never appeared in the Giants’ organization.
Alright, let’s get to the lines…where once again, we have dingers!
HITTER of the Night: Franklin Labour (Rich) 2 for 4, 2 HR (4), 2 Runs, 4 RBI
PITCHER of the Night: Julio Rodriguez (SJ), 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K
