My platform: a Constitutional Amendment banning intentional walks in the minor leagues.
I’ve now seen Bryce Eldridge intentionally walked twice in the last month, neither time in a game that affected playoff chases. Once in the 6th inning. My visceral response on both occasions was “What are we doing here people?” Stop it, minor league managers! You’re not developing anybody or anything doing that! Nobody’s getting better from that. And nobody cares how sharp a tactician you are. Just play the game!
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
With seasons coming to a conclusion, it’s only natural that teams should offer just a little bit extra in appreciation of their fans! So why not free baseball? Three of the four games last night ended in walk-offs, and two gave that little extra bit more to show the fans that they really cared (the fourth basically told everyone to go home in the 1st).
HITTER of the NIGHT: Guillermo Williamson (SJ), 3 for 5, HR (12), 2b, 1 R, 3 RBI
PITCHER of the NIGHT: Will Bednar (Rich), 2.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 5 K, 1 HR
Let’s get ready for extras! It’s walk-off city in one of the final Minor Lines of the year.
