As Mike Shanahan said last winter (in one of the darker moments in recent Bay Area sports), if you’re going to compete in the arena, you have to be prepared for the pain of defeat. The Dominican Summer League is certainly light years away from the bright lights of the Super Bowl, but the emotions were still running high for these young men, competing for the right to be called “champion.” And in the end, one team was in jubilation, and the other walked off in dejection.
And that’s the life of the professional competitor. Hold your heads high, Black! It was a great summer!
