If You Can Spin It, You Can Spin It and Landen Roupp Can Spin It!
SF Giants Minor Lines, August 9, 2022
Solomon Bates came into the bottom of the 9th with the bases loaded and struck out the side. But not really. Because in the course of his yesterday, Bates showed more composure, more courage in tough circumstances, more steadiness of purpose than any game ever truly demands of us. Except the game of Life, of course — a game I hope Solomon feels he handled deftly for the day.
Bates had a complicated day on Tuesday — a day in which he took the courageous move of putting his private life on public display, while also announcing that he had been released by the Giants organization. Bates noted that he has been out with his teammates since 2019, but wanted to take the opportunity to open doors in the sports world.
It all makes for a complicated, condensed story, but There R Giants wants to salute Bates for his courage and for all of his work on the field and off. Best of luck on the next step of your journey, Solomon!

But there was much, much more — as usual all being announced just hours after the weekly transaction summary, so let’s try to take care of the full roundup here at the top so you can follow who’s who and who’s where as we get into the week:

Whew! That’s a day, ain’t it?! Things are starting to get whacky! As expected, we’re seeing a wave of releases that comes in coordination with adding the new draft class to rosters while keeping the org under the 180 player limit imposed by MLB. In addition to all of the above, Will Wilson joined the rehab contingent in Arizona. Sounds like a big day, so let’s get to the action.
