Around 5:00 o’clock yesterday, eastern time, Sacramento play-by-play man Zack Bayrouty and I were recording this week’s There R Giants’ podcast (“still to come,” as Jon Miller likes to say). We were discussing Heliot Ramos’ growth and development this year, when Bayrouty expressed some bemusement over the failure to get Ramos more of an opportunity in the closing months of the 2023 season. He went on to express the sincere hope that that opportunity would come at some point this season.

When we had finished our recording, and said our goodbyes, I flipped over to my email and saw the transaction announcement, bringing Ramos back to the majors. Apparently Bayrouty has a solid “your lips to God’s ears” connection! Let’s hope we get to see some of Ramos’ growth put on display at the major league level — and let’s hope he gets some real reps to show something. Go get ‘em, Heliot! Show us something!

HITTER of the DAY: Brandon Martorano (Sac) 2 for 3, 2 HR (3), 2 R, 5 RBI, 1 BB
PITCHER of the DAY: Ryan Murphy (Rich), 5.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 8 K

The hitting struggles in Richmond and Eugene continued, but the guys finally broke out the bats in San Jose. Let’s take a whirl around and see what we can see of a Wednesday night, where even the little things can mean a lot.
