Richmond seems to be hoarding all the big news in the farm system this week. Tuesday we had the big Bryce Eldridge promotion, and yesterday came the kick off of some great news that’s been a decade in the making: the Squirrels began the new stadium roll out with a fancy new video and a brand new name! Welcome CarMax Park, the next home of the Richmond Flying Squirrels.

Of course, videos and corporate naming rights don’t build a stadium. But heavy machinery sure does! Step Two of “New Stadium Week” comes on Friday at noon, when the long awaited, long hoped for, often despaired of, but finally here groundbreaking for the new park takes place! It’s time for VIPs with golden shovels. Maybe even a large ribbon and novelty scissors to open up the proceedings if they want to get really carried away. Not all the facilities news has been positive on the farm the last few years, but Richmond is now on track to open a beautiful new state of the art park to open the 2026 season.

Now we just need to get that Eugene situation sorted out and this could be a pretty sweet setup for the Baby Giants in a few years.

HITTER of the NIGHT: Lisbel Diaz (SJ), 4 for 5, 3b (3), 2 R, 3 RBI
PITCHER of the NIGHT: Jack Choate (Rich),
4.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 6 K

But the east coast can’t keep all the big news to itself in a west-coast leaning org! We’ve got dinger madness. We’ve got historic hits aplenty. And we’ve got wild pitch walk-offs! What more could you want from a night at the yard?
