We’ve got some moves! Which makes it a good day for a Saturday supplemental — a little later than normal, but what else do we have to do while waiting for the Giants game to start?
At long last, Vaun Brown is making his way up to High A! This is well-deserved and should be highly informative! And, not for nothing, having your final PA at a level be a 9th inning, pinch hit home run that staved off elimination is pretty danged bad ass!
One of Brown’s new teammates will be Rob Emery, who moves down from Richmond, alleviating some of the surplus created by Ricardo Genovés’ presence, which gave the Squirrels four different catchers on the roster. Ironically, however, on the day Emery was sent down, Patrick Bailey was activated from the IL, giving Eugene now four catchers!
One player who won’t be waiting to greet Brown, however…
Clay Helvey takes Emery’s place on the Richmond roster, and it’s a well-deserved promotion for a guy who’s been tearing it up for two seasons now. CO-PITCHERS of the Night: Kai-Wei Teng (Rich), 6.1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 11 K
Nick Swiney (Eug) 6.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 12 K
A couple of dominating performances lead the night, with off-speed pitches that left the opposition’s bats hacking at air all night long…
