I feel like I no sooner write something these days, then something catches my attention that demands a quick follow-up. In this week’s mailbag, I answered a question about the national view of the Giants’ farm system, and in my reply I noted that MLB Pipeline had just issued their latest organizational rankings with the Giants jumping up 10 spots to #18. I further noted that I imagined Baseball America would rank them slightly higher, as they have now added a couple of Giants’ prospects to the back-end of their Top 100.

I didn’t expect that to come until this winter, but then BA pushed out a brand-new org rankings of their own yesterday. As I suspected, they too had the Giants jumping up from #24 prior to the season to #16 now. And, as was the case with MLB Pipeline, BA noted that this could be just the beginning of upward momentum for the Giants’ org:

If position players like Level, Gavin Kilen, Dakota Jordan and pitchers Argenis Cayama, Keyner Martinez and Luis De La Torre take the next steps in the coming years, this system could jump by leaps and bounds.

And, if that wasn’t enough, in their weekly podcast discussing the new organizational rankings, JJ Cooper and Geoff Pontes gave the Giants a strong shoutout as one of the most interesting of the current mid-tier organizations. So, if you don’t have a subscription and can’t read the article, the podcast is free for all. There is definitely a sense of talent in the Giants’ org that is starting to slip the bounds of the hyper-focused (like all of us here at There R Giants) and reach out into the broader world of baseball fans — and people working inside the industry as well.

It’s been a good year!

It was not, however, all that great a night, as the affiliates dropped five of the six games played (hey, but there was one rainout!).

HITTER of the NIGHT: Dayson Croes (Rich), 3 for 4, HR, 1 R, 1 RBI
PITCHER of the NIGHT: Cesar Perdomo (Eug),
7.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 7 K

Let’s head to the lines on what was a pretty pitching-heavy night.
