That was quite a weekend! Feels like things are all happening in a rush. We’ve reached the break. For instance, the Giants have a new 1st round pick, which you can read about in last night’s There R Giants’ post:

But we also have a Futures Game appearance to discuss, many more rounds of the draft coming in the next couple of days, and an All Star game (sadly just the one, as MLB has put the permanent kibosh on the old minor league All Star games).

What we don’t have much of this week is actual…you know….games, as most of the levels take that break with the majors. That means this week is going to be a little different around here. Content!

This also feels like a good time to celebrate the baseball season with a little There R Giants’ sale! So for this week, I’m taking 30% off of new annual subscriptions. You’ll get a full year of There R Giants posts for just $49. Seems like a good time to join for wall-to-wall coverage of the Giants’ farm system!

There R Giants All Star Week Sale!

HITTER of the WEEKEND: Marco Luciano (Sac), 5 for 8, 2 HR (6), 3 R, 2 RBI, 3 BB
PITCHER of the WEEKEND: Joe Whitman (Eug),
6.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 7 K

Down in the count, 0-2, Eldridge showed a great eye on a pitch just off the corner, fouled off a tough offering, and then picked up a clean single the opposite way against a left-on-left sweeper. Once again, showing the quality of his hit tool to go along with that big raw power.

And it’s not like Eldridge didn’t put on a power display at all in Texas…
