Ooh wee! It’s finally here! Eight-team Monday! Which means we might need to be a tad less verbose with the lessons learned from here forward. Let’s see if that’s something that’s possible for me to do!
Fortunately, a simple rule of thumb is: “let the stars be your guide.” And, as it happens, we had some stars doing star things this weekend. So let’s hop in and investigate a big slate of action from the top of the minor league ladder down to the very bottom.
HITTER of the WEEKEND: Luis Matos (Sac), 7 for 14, 3 HR (9), 4 R, 6 RBI, 2 SB, 2 BB
PITCHER of the WEEKEND: Landen Roupp (Rich), 4.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 K
This may have been the most hotly contested HotW in There R Giants’ history. BOTH Will Wilson and Marco Luciano went 5 for 10 with three home runs and a pile of walks this weekend — and Wilson did something that had the Sacramento communications staff scrambling for the history books. But I have to give the nod to Matos, who now has 14 multi-hit games in just 23 played since moving up to Sacramento — a stretch that’s seen him record three or more hits eight times! Sâcré bleu that’s hot!
So be on your toes, everybody, this Minor Lines is about to explode!
