You think your team has troubles! Check out the beginning to this Modesto Nuts’ game this weekend!
Never seen a start to a game quite like that one! Apparently, Modesto mistakenly turned in the wrong scorecard to the umpires and didn’t list their scheduled starting pitcher in the lineup. Because of the three batter minimum rule, they were forced to intentionally walk the first three batters of the game before they were allowed to make a pitching change. Go to the park every day and you’ll see something you’ve never seen before — that’s for sure!
Annnnnddd….speaking of things you’ve never seen before, we had a fairly momentous “first time ever” occasion on the farm yesterday — and I guarantee you, you’ll be hoping to see it many more times in the future!
HITTER of the WEEKEND: Victor Bericoto (Eug), 8 for 14, 3 HR (7), 2 2b, 7 RBI
PITCHER of the WEEKEND: Carson Whisenhunt (Eug), 5.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 7 K
The Hitter of the Weekend honor was a tough one this week! Wade Meckler had back to back four-hit games this weekend, Tyler Fitzgerald was an extra-base machine, and, as you can probably tell from the headline, Luis Matos had a pretty good run himself! But Victor Bericoto was in a special tier of Crushing It! The Pitcher side of the equation was … just slightly little less competitive, but the Wiz certainly earned his honorific!
So let’s take a spin around the action on the farm for a gorgeous holiday weekend. And to all the mothers in the audience, I hope you had a very happy Mother’s Day, full of love, joy, a little pampering service from the family, and a great day of ball (though not if you were watching the Giants)!
