As typically happens this time of year, the scouts were out in force last night in Richmond. Representatives from several teams with pieces to sell and the willingness to shop them showed up with a short list of players on the Binghamton roster to bear down. The Mets have clearly signaled to others that they are in the market to buy. None of those on hand had a shopping list of Richmond players to focus on, though none would say whether that was due to a lack of interest, or a lack of smoke signals coming from San Francisco that the front office was interested in adding to their problematic roster. But somewhere on some other fields, the Giants pro scouts are scattering with lists of their own and players to focus their fine-tuned eyes upon.
It’s a feverish week. Reports will be written. Decisions will be made. The deadline looms. As Sluggo says, there is much to think about….
