We have promotion news! And demotion news. And all manner of moving around news!
And even more!
And yet more!
Goodness! Apparently the player movement glacier has begun to hit its summer thaw! Even all of the above didn’t quite capture all of the movement yesterday, as RHP Ty Weber also returned to Eugene from a brief sojourn in Sacramento, and Spencer Bivens likewise returned to San Jose. Even Sir Isaac Newton might be impressed by this many bodies in motion! Hopefully, there’s more where that came from (looking at you Marco!).
GPT and I discussed Will Wilson’s improvements this year at length on yesterday’s podcast. He’s looked great since returning from the leg strain that cost him nearly all of May.
I got a lot of questions from people on Twitter yesterday regarding Wilson’s timeline (which we also discussed on the pod). I think it’s apparent by now how the Giants operate. Once Wilson is added to the 40-man, he’ll become part of the options brigade, added to the roster when they need right-handed infield depth for the lineup, with the opportunity to press for more playing time. Wilson is part of the big crowd of players who have to be protected from the Rule 5 draft this winter, so he’ll become part of the 40-man no later than this offseason, and is a possibility for later this year, depending on circumstances.
