We have history!
Matt Frisbee on Wednesday posted the season’s top strikeout performance for the org, his own personal career best, and the Richmond franchise’s all time best! That’s a day! That Frisbee, who is striking out less that 7.5 batters per 9 innings this season, should be the one to etch his name in the record books is unexpected — but I suppose the fact that it came against this Portland team was somewhat less so. In all, there have been six occasions this year when the Giants’ pitching prospect has struck out more than 10 batters — four of those six have come against this Sea Dogs club! They’re not a bad club — they’re actually in 1st place in the Northeast division at this point — but they sure do swing and miss a lot!
Still, a huge congratulations and There R Giants salute goes to Big Friz, who simply went out there carved up a solid Double A squad in arguably his best day as a professional. Nice going, Matt! You’re in the record books — again! Frisbee, of course, was also the starting pitcher of the only 9-inning no hitter in the Squirrels’ history. He’s definitely leaving a legacy that will live beyond him in Richmond.
