Last year, when I made an early season run out to the ACL, one of the interesting features of my trip was that I got to see the very first at bats of the year from Wade Meckler, who was then returning from a wrist injury. Ironically, I had actually planned a quick jaunt to the ACL this week (bought tickets and reserved room and all) before the joys of home ownership interceded and made me cancel it last minute. But, had I gone through with my planned flight westward, the first thing I would have found last night was that I was once again getting to witness Meckler’s first rehab game, as he works to come back from a muscle strain suffered in the second game of the season.
I know I have some true Meckler Heads among my subscribers — I hear from you folks all the time in the mailbag questions. Why just today I had a couple of Meckler queries. So, you’ll all be happy to hear that he’s back in action, and hopefully will be working his way back up to Sacramento soon.
Meckler’s return was just one of the encouraging rehab notes from last night’s action in the desert, as the ACL Giants jumped all over the Mesa A’s.
