As I said last week, it’s hard to win in the post-season without playing clean baseball. In Game One of the Eastern League Divisional Series, Richmond, which had played a pristine brand of defense throughout their season, let one inning get away from them, a short span of ugly ball that flared up and left in hallucinatory fashion. And that momentary lapse contributed to falling into an immediate hole. For the second year in a row, Richmond trails Erie in the best of three series, no games to one.

HITTER of the NIGHT: David Villar (Sac), 2 for 3, HR (16), 2 R, 2 RBI, 2 BB, 1 K
PITCHER of the NIGHT: Carson Seymour (Rich), 3.1 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K
