Well, I might as well start out this post by saying that there was some definite good news and bad news this weekend when it came to 2024 surprise breakout, Bo Davidson. The good news was that he continued to flash some eye-popping skills that have his development trajectory looking up. The bad news is that we might not be seeing those flashes again for a little while.
Midway through Sunday evening’s weekend finale, Davidson pulled up rounding second and crumpled to the ground. After the trainer raced out to work on him a bit, he was assisted off the field, walking very gingerly on his left leg. One reason why Davidson’s second half breakout was such a surprise last year was that he spent a good portion of the first half on the IL with a hamstring strain. We’ll see what this brings, but on first blush, it looked like the kind of injury that gets measured in weeks, not days. Hopefully, after a day of rest and recovery, it won’t end up quite as bad as it looked.
That was the bummer denouement of a weekend that saw the powerful Davidson explode for four extra-base hits — giving all indications that he was primed to go off.
HITTER of the WEEKEND: Bo Davidson (Eug) 5 for 14, 2 HR, 2 2b, 2 R, 2 RBI, 2 BB
PITCHER of the WEEKEND: Gerelmi Maldonado (SJ), 3.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 7 K
It’s Minor Lines, and all the cool kids are jumping for joy!
