Rayner Arias Goes Deep

The last time that Rayner Arias went yard in an official game — one that shows up on his Baseball Reference page — was just shy of two years ago: June 24, 2023. That day, Arias went 3 for 5. He hit a double and a homer and drove in four runs. Two weeks into his debut, the jewel of the Giants’ crop of international signings was hitting .423/.530/.846. He was, by far, the best hitter in the early going of the DSL season, and it appeared we were witnessing the birth of a supernova prospect.

Then…..things happened. Back-to-back seasons lost to nearly identical broken wrists cost him reps and a little of the snap to his impressive swing. It’s taken a lot longer than he or anybody else had hoped, but, last night, Arias once again got to bust out his home run trot when he got a fastball above the belt and turned on it with a vicious cut of old. And that trot had to feel mighty good!

HITTER of the DAY: Jeremiah Jenkins (ACLG), 4 for 4, 2b, 3b, BB, 4 R, 1 RBI
PITCHER of the DAY: Alberto Laroche (DSLGB),
4.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K

Let’s hop to the lines, where, oh yes, we are going to have pitchers pointing at the sky above!
