And, with the weekend passed, we bid farewell to the 2023 A Ball regular season. Eugene’s year is being put away in a box with the summer clothing, to be opened again in the spring. San Jose continues on, but with (hopefully) a sharper purpose than they’ve shown the last few months as they head into a best of three playoff series. Level by level, the season folds away into its case, like an old accordion.
When the teams start handing out plaques and trophies, it means the end is almost here.
Soon, we’ll be picking over the bones of the season, gleaning its opaque lessons. But for now, San Jose and Richmond both face a week of intensely meaningful games. Which is always a good note to leave a season on.
