Now that we’ve completed our final looks back at the 2022 season, it’s time to look forward. And in the most immediate future, that means directing our focus at what is likely going to be an incredibly complicated roster turnover. This year’s crop of players who are eligible to be poached in the Rule 5 draft is particularly large, and includes a lot of big ticket amateur acquisitions! There are going to be close, tough calls on many of them. So, here at There R Giants, I’m going to do what I always do when close, tough calls are afoot —- drop many, many thousands of words on them!
Today, I’m starting a series of deep dives on what seem to me to be the toughest Rule 5 decisions the Giants will face, presenting cases for and against inclusion on the 40-man roster, along with my best guess as to which way the Giants will go (Editor’s Note: “best” guess is not always synonymous with “good” guess).
