Baseball America’s Hot Sheet for last week featured Giants affiliate’s opponents in the #1 and #2 positions (the A’s Nick Kurtz and the Guardians’ Travis Bazzana). New goal for this week: let’s keep all of the opponents out of the national headlines! Secondary goal: having some of the Giants’ own kiddos grab some bold-type ink would be pretty swell, too.

One day into the first full week of ball, we’re off to a pretty good start on those designs. The affiliates all rolled to big victories in an Everybody Wins sort of evening. Let’s get week number two started!

HITTER of the NIGHT: Jakob Christian (SJ), 2 for 5, HR (1), 2b (2), 2 RBI, 1 K
PITCHER of the NIGHT: Seth Lonsway (Rich),
5.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 7 K

Before we take a look at last night, however, let’s take a quick ride in the Wayback Machine with Logan Webb. As part of the year-long celebration of The Diamond’s final and 40th year hosting minor league ball, Richmond fans have voted in an All-Diamond team, which is being rolled out one by one. Yesterday, Webb was announced as the third and final starter on this commemorative “team,” joining former Richmond Braves (and MLB Hall of Famers) Tom Glavine and John Smoltz. That sent Webb into a reverie on his days as a Squirrel:

You can hear Trey Wilson’s entire conversation with Webb on the latest Funnville Nine podcast. Now let’s get to more current events…
