Only four teams to cover? Man, this is like a vacation! We’ll have this pumped out in just a couple thousand words or so!
If it feels like there has been a general winnowing out of the highest-level prospects from the system as our year has gone on, that’s decidedly backed up by the facts. Of last year’s There’ R Giants’ Top 25 players, SEVEN are currently on the major league squad, including tonight’s starting pitcher — which is very exciting! Unfortunately, that positive absence isn’t the only one being felt at this point. In consequence, it does feel as if our daily interaction with the upper echelon prospect has declined a bit around here — and you’ve probably felt that as well as I have.
We’ll focus in on what the top prospects are doing in this Big Monday edition, as I start to get my brain pointed in the direction of off-season lists, wrap-ups, and rankings — that time of year will be here soon. Meanwhile, there are still some post-season races to follow, and there was a completely crazy day of baseball on Sunday. Let’s dive into the weekend and enjoy a little madness!
After all, in the prospect game, where one exits, another is sure to enter.
HITTER of the WEEKEND: Victor Bericoto (Rich), 4/9, 2 HR (22), 2b, 2 RBI, 4 R, 2 BB
PITCHER of the WEEKEND: Tyler Vogel (SJ), 2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 6 K
It wasn’t a great pitching weekend, but there were a lot of dingers to sort through — many of them coming in the clutch! Let’s get to the Lines…
