We’re into the There R Giants Top 50. Over the winter months, I’ll write a post on each of the fifty players in my rankings, leading us back to the much-needed spring. Our list of previously covered players is getting a little long, so from here on out I’m moving the links for the full list down the bottom of the post.

There was a moment in time, early in the 2021 season, when it looked like Kervin Castro might make his full season debut in the major leagues — with not an iota of Low A, High A, Double A, or Triple A pitching on his résumé. Things didn’t end up playing out quite that way, but that shouldn’t make us view Castro’s dramatic rise in 2021 with anything other than astonishment. His forced leap up the development ladder was — if not quite entirely unprecedented in baseball history — a stunning ask for such a young, inexperienced player. The way he handled that challenge might have been even more stunning yet.

So take a seat, clear your head, and prepare to be gobsmacked! It’s time to revisit the Absolutely Incredible and Positively Real Rise of Kervin Castro!
