Roger, you’re right, creative tension is good. Good to have some outsiders that are not in Giants system, but brain drain is a valid concern.
If Posey wanted his own guy there were enough red flags two consecutive seasons with Melvin, Christenson and Williams teams underperforming. Melvin has always had a steady, calmer personality his entire career, so if Posey wanted more energy the change should’ve been made when he became POBO.
September 2024: Melvin called Giants play: Instructional League at times. That should be happening in ST, not September so that’s a huge red flag imho.
2023: Marlins made postseason over Padres who had a much better starting rotation, RD and more home runs than 2025 Padres.
