Roger, that was really good! I shouldn’t be surprised, but your writing style comes through very well in your speaking style.
I agree that 30 minutes is a good length. And now that we know you are looking for questions like these (hopefully you’ll make this a regular feature) we can generate more good questions. I was too busy to contribute, but I’ll look to do so in the future if something strikes me.
Wishing you - and my fellow subscribers - a happy and healthy 2022!
Player-based development. Got it. It sounds like a very dynamic approach--I am all about multi-dimensional thinking of any kind. Very interesting, and what a thorough answer.
I think there are two problems with that. The first is that the catcher market is so horrible that you just create a different problem for yourself if you move him. The second and worse problem is that with Posey retired and Bart now heir apparent, you essentially lower his trade value in bringing him up in an offer. It’s a catch 22. If you try to trade him you instantly put yourself in a position of selling low bc partners would be right to be wary. Certainly best way to obtain value out of a guy who is still one of the better prospects in baseball is to develop him to his potential
And thank you for answering my questions. The Joey Bart question is one that I'm sure is going to be debated quite a bit on Giants fan boards headed into the season.

Happy New Year!
Thank you. I enjoyed the concept. Easily worth making a permanent part of your podcast repertoire.
Agree … good questions, good answers, good pod. Happy New Year to all!
I'm wondering if Bart will be included in a trade for a starting pitcher. I was mildly surprised he didn't move at the deadline last year.

I really enjoyed this format. I'd love to hear you do a Mailbag podcast again.
