I appreciate all the kind thoughts yesterday. What a swell community this is! Speaking of which, I believe I turned on a new functionality that allows subscribers to start their own “chat” threads. I’m not sure of how exactly that works or if you were notified that now exists — so if you’ve seen any notice of such a function arrive in your mailboxes recently, please let everyone know in the comments below and we can see if we can figure it out together.
Anyway, let’s get things back on a normal schedule here with a good old fashioned Minor Lines! This is going to be a big week for the organization — the draft starts this Sunday night, and the Futures Game takes place on Saturday (which I sadly will not attend, but, as I said yesterday, it hasn’t traditionally been a big Giants’ showcase). While the Futures’ Game might not have major repurcussions for the org going forward, the draft certainly will, starting with Sunday night, when the Giants will have three picks within the first 69 overall (at least I presume MLB will include the compensation picks that follow the 2nd round on the first night).
But, before we get to all of that, for at least a few more days before the break, we have games!
HITTER of the NIGHT: Vaun Brown (Ric), 2 for 4, 3 RBI (26), 2 SB (15)
PITCHER of the NIGHT: Brett Standlee (Eug), 3.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K
So let’s celebrate the action on the field for another night on the Giants’ farm. There may or may not be crying in baseball…but there are most certainly hugs!
