Oh man, the vibes are strong at CarMax Park this year, where late-innings comebacks and dramatic swings are becoming the norm. A sleepy, low-key game suddenly turned on the bright lights at the last possible moment last night, with Jonah Cox and Drew Cavanaugh providing the wattage. Speaking before the game, Cox deflected praise on his numbers by pointing to the strength of the team — “it’s a lot easier to have success when you’re with a lot of guys that are also having success.”

That’s been a theme of the entire farm so far this year — a lot of guys are definitely having success. Baseball America’s Editor-in-Chief, JJ Cooper, taking the macro view of minor league baseball in April, unearthed a pretty amazing stat the other day:

Across their four full-season MiLB clubs, the Giants are winning at a .670 clip. Besides the Giants, only one MiLB team (the FredNats) have a winning percentage of .670 or better.

Yes, only one other team in the minors can match the organizational success of the Giants to start the year. That is stunning! Winning records in the minors aren’t everything — they’re very far from the most important thing. But they do mean something! It will be a good long while before we know if any of this success translates into the intended goal (success at the top), but right now, the product on the field is pretty special and entertaining at every level, and the clubs do seem to have bonded together to pull towards a collective goal — which is a hard thing to pull off in a development setting sometimes. Kudos to players who are making it work and the staff behind them setting them up for success!

HITTER of the NIGHT: Jonah Cox (Rich), 3 for 3, HR, 1 R, 3 RBI, 1 SB
PITCHER of the NIGHT: Trystan Vrieling (Rich),
5.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K

Let’s go see some wins!
