So far in “Way Too Early” Roster Previews, we’ve looked at:
Ah, my home turf, the affiliate I spend the most time interacting with, watching, and hobnobbing with the fanbase. My standard bit here is that it’s a fanbase that feels somewhat slighted over the years by the Giants front office. And the fact that they only got six days with the top prospect in the system — a vaguely local kid to boot — won’t ease that slight sense of aggrievement any!
It’s true that the big fish have slipped through the RVA with astonishing alacrity lately. But maybe those days are coming to an end, with a returned focus on “dominating the level” under the Giants’ new leadership (at least, that’s what we’ve heard so far).
For now, the Richmond faithful will have to make do with a team that is pretty solid, if not loaded with star power. The roster I’ve envisioned here doesn’t have a lot of Top 10 presence, but could have close to 1/3 of my Top 30 — which isn’t a bad place to start from.
And while I’m not sure how much top talent might be graduating their way over the course of the summer, there is one long-awaited prospect that is headed their way come 2026:
Yes, after literally decades of effort, a brand-new home is finally coming the Squirrels’ way, hopefully by the start of the 2026 season. The earth movers are busy shoving dirt around, and construction is under way. Which means this coming year could a long last hurrah for the venerable, and somewhat decrepit, Diamond.
State of the art is coming soon!
