Well, Hello There, Josuar!

Guess who returned to action just in time for me to pay him a visit in Scottsdale? Last night wasn’t Josuar Gonzalez’s first game back from his latest hamstring strain — his initial return actually came on Friday night at the beginning of the weekend, when he went 1 for 3. After an off day on Saturday, he was back in the starting lineup when I pulled up to Papago, and got in another seven innings and three at bats. The Giants are naturally going slow with such a talent, but I’m hoping to get several looks at the Josuar and Luis Show before I leave town at the end of the week — and that’s pretty satisfying after missing half the starring act for nearly a month.

Meanwhile, the quest to place all four of the Giants’ full-season affiliates into their league playoffs came to a sad conclusion this weekend, as Sacramento faltered just before hitting the tape, dropping three straight games at the worst possible time. They ended up in second place, 1.5 games behind Las Vegas. The River Cats weren’t the only team on the farm that stumbled a bit as the first half came to a close.
