Great article Roger...

What do you think the MLB ETAs of the Giants top 5 prospects are, and also what do you think their ceilings and floors are?

That's going to be a very difficult question to answer until we have a better idea of when and how either MLB or MiLB are going to continue. Bart should be pretty close to ready for his major league finishing school. It's easy and lazy but entirely accurate to say his floor is something very like Mike Zunino, a solid defensive catcher who hits for power but with low BA/OBP. His ceiling is an All Star Catcher -- the same guy but with a .260 average. Ramos is probably a year behind Bart. He has a higher risk than Bart of failing to hang on in the majors just because OF the glove won't keep you there if the bat doesn't. He could be allergic enough to big league breaking balls that he can't get over the hump and turns into a AAAA player. That's definitely a far worst case scenario. His ceiling is maybe something like Michael Conforto/Jorge Soler type? Luciano's ceiling is an MVP, generational star type. I think he could jump to majors in 2/2.5 years if things break right, but when that two years starts or how it mixes with this stalled development time? Who knows. His floor is probably something like a 2nd division starter. Canario and Bishop both have much higher risk of failing to stick (or even get to) majors than any of the other three because of their very large swing and miss issues. But either could turn into an All Star OF in a best-case scenario. I wouldn't think either is ready in less than 3 years but Bishop could certainly speed that up with some development leaps

Thanks, Roger ... these prospect write-ups have been a boon during the shutdown. So great to see the direction the Giants are moving towards; really great work, much appreciated!

Thanks Mike. Now the question is.... what should I write about after I finish this series? Anyone have any ideas?

I wonder if any of the multiple new SF coaches would be willing to do an interview with you. We don’t generally know much about them, so you could start with bio info and then get into what their specific responsibilities are and how they may be implementing newer concepts in their coaching.

And of course I’m always interested in interviews with our minor leaguers.

The depth here is pretty intriguing; and if more than one of these guys turns out to have a ML bat, they can always be moved around defensively or used as trade bait.

And now I’m really looking forward to your next post!😊
