I finally figured out that the mascot in your lead picture is the Exploding Whale alt persona of the Eugene Emeralds. So here is the original event as recorded live by a TV station in 1970. Grant Brisbee once said it is the single best thing on Youtube all-time. See for yourself:
In fairness to Tyler Beede I was at his last start of 2019 and the stuff was incredible. He was literally unhittable for 3.1 innings with 7 ks and then ... he got injured.
When his stuff was good it was great. I think the command was always going to hold him back but when health issues got started it was too much to overcome
Speaking of Matos, Mike Krukow commented recently that the Giants sent him somewhat of a message when they called up Fitz over Matos and inserted Fitz into RF. Do you believe that is true? Is there something the Giants have been working with Matos (I.e reducing chase rate) that he’s been unable or perhaps unwilling to address?
There is no doubt that calling up Fitzgerald to play RF was a message. Indeed, after the trade of Yaz, they called up McCray, Gilbert, and Fitzgerald in front of Matos. It does take a fortune teller to read those tea leaves. Matos did make mechanical adjustments in his swing recently. But certainly there is no question about what he's needed to improve upon for years now.

The future saw a quick rise in crypticness and poor manners
