Outstanding questions (and answers) this week. Thanks to everyone!
Ooh, Sean McGowan. I saw him in AAA when Fresno came to Memphis, along with Tony Torcato and Calvin Murray. I wasn't overly impressed by Sean - what did you see, Roger?
BTW, Calvin Murray remains the fastest player I've ever seen live in a game. Truly amazing!
Awesome mailbag! Thanks! But Roger, even if one day the Giants move away from Richmond, we need your daily year-round coverage! Not a problem if it becomes mostly remote-based!
Thanks for a great mail bag, Roger! Any chance for a quick bonus question? What are the chances the Giants give Hunter Bishop some courtesy ABs late in September, kind of how they gave Gary Brown a few ABs as a big leaguer late in the 2014 season? Assuming they’ve either clinched a playoff spot (LOL), or are out of it entirely.
Governing rules of rosters are very different nowadays. With only two additional roster spots in September, teams really have to prioritize things that help them survive the final weeks (which usually means more pitchers for the bullpen).
Thanks for answering my question, Rog. Appreciate it!
When you say you think the G's "picked somebody else’s pocket" when they selected Cohen, what do you mean? Are you thinking another team had hammered out a proposed deal with him a round or two later, and the G's barged in early? Does that mean the G's didn't have an early "agreement" with Cohen themselves?
Speaking of, here's the link to the BCraw blog, where he (barely) mentions his DSL experience. He also recounts his draft experience, where the Twins called him about taking him at 126 when the G's took him at 117. Twins wanted to know if he'd sign at 126, I suppose the Giants had no doubts at 117?
No, just that I think there was another team getting ready to take him with their next pick (probably not suspecting that some other team had the same idea)

Oh I don't know that I saw anything special, Lyle. But he was a fellow BC Golden Eagle., so I was invested
the question was "for whatever reason...."
Fair enough!
I remember watching Adam Duval and thinking he probably was okay at third. I never envisioned his career lasting as long as it did.
Trades I wish hadn’t happened which is a similar question are Joe Nathan, Luis Castillo and the whole Beltran deal.
I put a lot of hopes on Jesse Foppert and Darren Ford too. In the end, that’s just baseball.

eh.....we'll see about that.
Outstanding as always, Roger!

Very true. Thanks, Rog!
