While mired in the desolation of another heart-breaking 49ers loss, Kerry and I try to figure out what exactly the Giants approach to the coming season really is. We talked about why signing Jorge Soler (done!) and more still makes sense while overall pitching-focused rebuild provides long-range strategy.
Kerry suggesting Farhan could be axed by July if the team struggles out of the gate strikes me as hyperbole. Zaidi just signed a contract extension and I cannot fathom any scenario where he's canned mid-season. Suggesting it could happen (while admittedly top-shelf fodder for Sports Phone 680) doesn't pass the "any basis in reality" smell test to this listener. Still a fantastic listen, of course, and I eagerly await the next episode! Hopefully some more roster activity bubbles up for you gentlemen to discuss. Speaking of, it does seem like Otto López just swiped the musical chair I was mentally reserving for Tyler Fitzgerald doesn't it? López is out of options and plays 2B, SS, and CF. Fitz has more familiarity with the hot corner but he's got options so... Also, this 26 man roster I've got rattling around my mind looks a LOT more functional with Melvin pencilling in Matt Chapman 150 times.
