—Extending now or this winter just means Giants will have to pay above market rate due to recent results. Doesn’t make sense when they’re way more than a starter away from contention. Noted those 1-2MPH upticks in velocity in his first two August starts too, and that combined with his personal results but Giants’ standings free-fall make him eminently moveable, even given the repressed market. (And definitely agree with targeting younger/longterm prospects like Baum—no need for immediate help on non-contender.)
—T.Anderson’s market will be interesting. The velocity/results won’t necessarily impress, but seems like a real pitcher rather than thrower who just gets worn out as a starter, but could be successful as a bulk-inning reliever, especially versus set lefty lineups.
At some point they have to start acquiring the things they do need or they'll always be too many players away though right? They have to start making the baseball moves that get them closer to competitive
Are the Diamondbacks a likely partner, in your view? Who in their organization might we want and they might be willing to trade? Or does Gausman not fit their timeline?
Yes I could definitely see Diamondbacks being a partner. Guys like JB Bukauskas or Slade Ceconi. Maybe your old favorite Seth Beer conceivably although he might be a little rich.
Looks like the lineup is from 2016 AZL Giants with Heston in there for a rehab start.
Correct!
