5 picks in the first 85, and not one of the Top 15 pitching prospects. OK.

Please tell me that there is no place in the multiverse that would rank Glowenke over Harrison. So they *are* doing their version of gaming the draft. I hate this - let’s figure out a way to have a draft where (at least in the first 5-6 rounds) the brightest prospects get chosen in roughly the correct order - allowing for individual team preferences.

In short, why in the h%{* was Glowenke chosen before Harrison?

Here’s my revised draft haul:

1. Bailey

2. Harrison

3. Schmitt

4. Swiney

5. Dabovich

6. Other

7. Chose not to participate

Interestingly Zaidi had a quote last night that Glowenke was strongly considered at the 49 spot. I think the preference there was simply the longer track record/greater data. In some ways he's REALLY a Moneyball choice -- the scene where Brad Pitt is sitting with the scouts bringing up guys they all hate and then pointing to Jonah Hill? Glowenke could TOTALLY be one of the guys he's talking about in that scene.

I think the only way these prospects are taken in their "correct" order is if the bonus slotting system changes so that the bonus slots pay what they pay and players cannot negotiate for more or less.

I think that's the inevitable next step in the system at this point. If we ever get to a next CBA
