Pavlovic said a few weeks ago in his offseason preview that Meckler started taking ground balls at second base in September, which would definitely help his profile. The top lefty-hitting middle infield free agent is ... Adam Frazier? Jorge Polanco? And the internal options are Wisely and (switch-hitter) Sergio Alcántara

I believe one of my readers mentioned that in the final week of play. I definitely recall seeing photos of him working there. Of course, working out there and succeeding there are two very different things! Austin Slater and Juan Perez got tried at 2b along the way, too! (I actually think Polanco would be a nice cheap pickup for Giants as backup MI)

Regarding the confusion around statistics, I am reminded of the great Mark Twain- “There are lies, damn lies and statistics.” So much of baseball is quantitative now and much of baseball coverage feels like a regurgitation of numbers. I like your work bc you incorporate analytics but you aren’t a slave to them. You see the bigger picture too. Bc numbers don’t tell the whole story. Sometimes it’s hard to figure out what story they are even telling!

I don't remember how they handled the sandwich picks.

If it was me, I would just go with "first 30", "next 30" and so on, rather than the literal round.

Thanks Roger! Can’t wait for GPT’s deep dive into the International class of 2025. Though I’m bummed we have $1M less to play with. Who else did we sign when we shelled out the vault for L Fox?

Do you mean in Fox's year or while they were penalized. Back then, you could spend as much as you wanted, though oddly the Giants didn't sign any other big ticket items when they signed Fox and went in the penalty box for three years. Most teams back then were blowing out one year with multiple high priced signings before being limited for three years, as for instance the Cubs going well over their bonus for Gleber Torres, Eloy Jiminez and others. THe Giants didn't do that; just one big contract, which seemed short sighted at the time. Nowadays, it's a hard cap so you can't do that

I think I know most of the other names besides Gonzalez. They'll all be small signings, but remember that small signings can turn into big deals (a la the Panda or Doval or Randy Rodriguez, all really small deals)
