To celebrate my first ever trip to the Dominican for some DSL action, I’m currently offering a sale of 25% off both annual and monthly subscriptions for the first year. So, if you’ve thought about becoming a There R Giants’ subscriber, now’s a great time to take the plunge!
I’m not going to attempt to deny it — the Draft Primer is really feeling its oats these days. Last year, I had Giants’ pick James Tibbs III very high on my “most likely” picks list — indeed, considering the guy I ultimately settled on for my prediction (Christian Moore) had gone off the board three picks earlier, Tibbs, who was the second guy on my board, comes pretty close to an accurate prediction. The year before, I managed to sneak in both Bryce Eldridge AND Walker Martin in my final circle of likely picks (though, again, I went with another candidate, Colin Houck). For extra points, I also pegged Matt Shaw as both a player the Giants would likely have at the top of their board, and one who would be gone before they picked, both of which points were later confirmed for me by people high up in the organization. Pretty good!
Maybe not quite up to the high water mark of 2017, when (back in my McCovey Chronicle days), I mentioned in a Draft Q&A with writer Christopher Crawford that I thought the Giants might make Heliot Ramos their top pick, only to have Chris shoot down my supposition. Still, we’re light years beyond my Draft Primer of 2022, when I failed to even imply the existence of either Reggie Crawford or Carson Whisenhunt. Trend lines are moving in the right direction!
All of which likely means we’re going to crash and burn this year. But if you want to see the spectacle, just step right on in to the annual, spectacular, guaranteed to be 100% correct* There R Giants’ Draft Primer!
