My guest this week is Josh Norris of Baseball America. Josh has covered the Giants’ system for BA for several years, doing the rankings and writeups for the system in the Prospect Handbook. He also made a recent visit to see Eugene take on Spokane, so we spend plenty of time talking about progress made (or not) this spring in Eugene, some of the complications involved with sharing a facility with a college, and early season risers and fallers on the Giants’ farm. The use of the word “vanilla” is mentioned a disconcerting amount of times in today’s pod, but it’s still going to be a fun listen for you!
As i watch Schmitt make another great play, at SS no less, to turn a double play for the Giants, it still blows my mind that Norris said others in their org had question marks over Casey's fielding.
To be clear, that was people in other front offices around baseball he was talking about and he said it was a weird, off key response. Sometimes Baseblall Ops folks whiff

Vanilla is the color of the parent club home uniforms.
The prospects are vanilla.
Ergo those prospects will be great in SF! 😜
