Thanks Rog, Even the hard, up and in head seeking perennial pitch of racism in America; the ever metastisizing shape and defining taxonomy of our history could not thwart Mr. Mays' and his success and achievements in the MLB. After facing the likes of Satchel Paige, Josh Gibson et al the talent in the majors was the least of his challenges. Getting out of the stadiums alive and putting miles between themselves and all those southern townsquare strange fruit bearing trees being foremost. If it were not for Reggie Jackson's inimitable ability to knock it out of the park I wonder if the 'fly over' elide the bad bits to not alienate corporate sponsors and MLBs predominately white ticket purchasers would have ever aired. Doubtful. Thanks again for revisiting the foundations and formative structures of the game played on the very fields of our nations civil discontent.

I was very interested to hear about the minor league facilities in the system, and would love to hear more about that topic.

Me too. I wonder what impact it has had on the prospects of the years. Obviously, Cain, Lincecum, Posey, MadBum, Sandoval, and the Brandons all came up through the system using those decrepit and outdated facilities. Hard to say, but my gut feeling is for some guys it doesn't matter where you put them, they'll succeed no matter what. For many others, they will benefit greatly from improved and modern facitilities.
