Great discussion, and your best musical selection so far!

Thinking about that international class got me to imagining that the 2025 Giants starting OFers could conceivably be Pomares, Matos, & Luciano; wouldn’t that be something?

But, eventual positions aside, historically what would you say was the Giants best draft ever?

Well, if you count all the different drafts they used to have back in the day, there was that year when they drafted Maddox, Matthews, George Foster, and Ed Goodson. Think that was '68. Otherwise it's either '85 or 2008 I'd say.

Good Off-the-Cuff Knowledge Roger ... and I learned something about the draft. I thought the June Amateur Draft was all that mattered but Foster and Maddox came in the January 1968 draft ... I had missed that.

So ... 1968 TOTAL SFG draft with career bWAR:

Foster [44.2] Maddox [36.8] Mathews [30.4] ... Goodson actually ended up wit-h 0.1 WAR means 111.4 WAR and looks to be their best.

1985: 88.0 bWAR ... Clark, Brantley, Denni Cook, Trevor Wilson

2008: 72.6 bWAR ... Buster and Crawford but still adding to it.

1983 was good: 75.1 bWAR for Thompson, Burkett and Hayes

Good stuff, Haak. The Matthews/Maddox draft was what was in the back of my mind.

Excellent point about the Giants be real land of opportunity/meritocracy for prospects and FA players. If a I were a FA pitcher this offseason I'd definitely be trying to get to a place like SF.

You and Jim covered everything a fan watching the prospects wanted to know.

Good job.

Bonus to hear your music pick ... Chicago was MyBand™ and the best until we lost Terry Kath.
